Harriet Rhodes

Hastings resident, Harriet 'Ruth' Rhodes, 90 of 405 Goldbeck Towers, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Saturday, May 9, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John H. G. Curtiss officiating. Burial will be Saturday, May 9, 2009; 2:30 P.M. at the Stuart Community Cemetery, Stuart, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, May 7, 2009; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Friday, May 8, 2009; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Saturday, May 9, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family.

Ms. Rhodes was born September 18, 1918 in Stuart, Nebraska to Elliot E. & Suzannah Henrietta (Hall) Rhodes. She began working at Henderson's IGA and Coat's Hardware in Stuart, Nebraska before moving from Stuart to Hastings in 1957. She worked at Safeway and was later a produce manager for Nash Finch for 14 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Although, Ruth had no children, she considered her great-great niece, Tami Kennedy, as her own daughter.

Ms. Rhodes was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one great niece and two dogs, Snoopy & Tippy.
