Long time Hastings resident, Harry C. Freed, 93, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Yakima, Washington.
Burial Office will be Saturday, September 14, 2013; 9:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska with The Very Reverend Catherine F. Scott officiating. Burial will be at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Columbarium. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral or Hastings Noon Rotary Club / Polio Plus Program.
Harry was born in Kahoka, Missouri on July 3, 1919 and grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri in 1942. He attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, was commissioned, and served in Alaska and the South Pacific in World War II. He married Viola Moyer in 1947. They moved to Hastings in 1948 where he went to work for the J.M. McDonald Company. Mr. Freed served the company as Secretary Treasurer until his retirement in 1981. Always active in the community, Rotary, and his church he served on numerous boards and St. Mark's Vestry. In 2002 Harry and Vi moved to Yakima, Washington to be near family.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; and his son, Jeffrey.
