Harry was born July 9, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska. He was the second son of Ralph & Hilda (Britton) Wilson. Harry was a lifetime member of the Trumbull United Methodist Church. He graduated from Trumbull High School in the class of 1949. He farmed with his father and grandpa Scott Wilson until he was drafted into the Army in June of 1952. Basic training for Harry was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He attended heavy equipment school in Virginia for six weeks and then was sent to Korea by way of Japan on a ship. He joined an engineer unit building roads and bridges that were destroyed by fighting. He spent two winters living in tents and doing some of his own cooking. They helped clean up Puson, Korea after their big fire. Harry returned to Nebraska in late April of 1954. On May 1, 1954 he was united in marriage to Dorothy (DeVries) Wilson and they made their home on a farm one mile north of where Harry grew up. He did land leveling, shelling corn, and farming before he bought his first truck and trailer in 1963. Harry liked to compete in games of basketball, volleyball (The Pork Bellies), bowling, and tennis into the early 80's. Harry was one of the original owners and operators of the Mid-Continent Race Track in Doniphan. He also was part owner of the #19 racecar with Roger Rhodes and Jerry Arnold. They spent their weekends racing at Hastings Raceways, Mid-Continent Race Track, and tracks in Lexington, Red Cloud and Kearney. In 1978, Harry and Dorothy started their own trucking company, Hay-Dot Trucking, with one tandem truck and a pup trailer. At the time of his heart problems in 2002, he was up to 13 units. He continued to help with the trucks until they sold the fleet in April of 2011.
