Former Hastings resident, Hazel Lena (Klein) Manske, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Neb. from Alzheimer's disease.

Services will be Saturday, September 10, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or to the family for future designation. Hazel was born January 28, 1927 to Peter and Lena (Reis) Klein near Roseland, Neb. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1944. On April 11, 1948, Hazel married Henry "Hank" H. Manske, Jr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. They were blessed to have 67 years together. Hazel was confirmed June 30, 1948 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She was a mother and homemaker during the early years of their marriage on the farm near Ayr. When the Manske Truck Line started, she served as a dispatcher. After moving to Hastings, she became the secretary for the Manske Insurance Agency. After retirement, Hazel put a lot of time and energy into the genealogy of the Manske and Klein families. She also found time to organize the many pictures into albums; an awesome task.

Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, playing cards and watching sports. She was a very good cook and excellent baker; her fresh baked pies were always a big hit with the family. She will be remembered for her strong faith and her love for her family.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry "Hank" H. Manske, Jr.; son, Mark; three brothers, Glenn, Orville and Clarence "Cal" Klein; and two sisters, Goldae Whiting and Helen Rothfuss.
