Helen Porterfield

Hastings resident, Helen M. Porterfield, 93, of the Regency, 1235 N. Laird, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Monday, June 17, 2002; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 18, 2002; 1:00 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Heartwell, Nebraska.

Helen M. Porterfield was born January 29, 1909 in Adams County, Nebraska to John & Mae (Keiffe) Wynn. She graduated from Hastings High School and married Hugh 'Butch' Porterfield in January 1929. They moved to the Kearney County area. He preceded her in death in 1952. She worked for Geyerman's Clothing Store, was a nurses' aide at Hastings Regional Center and worked at the Kenesaw Haven Home. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Crosier Apostolate. She was a life long Adams County and Kearney County area resident.

Helen M. Porterfield was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 'Butch', 1 son, Jerry Porterfield, 2 grandsons, Gary Ellis & Billy Porterfield, a great grandson, James Porterfield, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
