Hastings resident, Henry "Herb" Hupf, 80, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Monday, September 30, 2013; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 1, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Cremation will take place after the mass and burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust. Visitation will be Sunday, September 29, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Monday, September 30, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Herb was born May 15, 1933 in Adams County, Nebraska to Henry & Elizabeth (Miller) Hupf and was the youngest of five children. He graduated in 1952 from St. Cecilia's Catholic High School. Herb served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and did his basic training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He married Virginia North in 1970. Herb was a carpenter and woodworker extraordinaire and worked as a superintendent at Kealy Construction Company and Hahn & Hupf Construction, and was the manager of construction at Dutton Lainson Company. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Elks Country Club, Eagles, American Legion, and was a past member of Knights of Columbus. Herb enjoyed golfing, playing cards, Nebraska football, family gatherings, and time with his friends at the Elks.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; brothers, Leonard, Paul, and Don; and sister, Rita.
