Henry Manske, Jr

Hastings resident, Henry "Hank" Manske, Jr., 87, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.

Hank was born May 26, 1928 on the family farm near Ayr, Nebraska to Freda (Placke) and Henry Manske, Sr. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1945. Sixty-seven years ago, Hank married Hazel Klein on April 11, 1948. He served on the Roseland School Board for many years and held various positions on different organizations at Zion Lutheran Church of which he was a life-long member. He farmed for many years in the Ayr vicinity, owned and operated the Manske Truck Line, and after moving to Hastings founded the Manske Insurance Agency. Hank enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, dancing and playing cards. Getting in his car and going for a drive was a real joy, he often said it was like therapy, so relaxing. Hank never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his strong faith and always being ready and willing to share a story or silly joke to brighten someone's day.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; one brother, Rodney; and one son, Mark.
