Hilda Sanders

October 2, 1911 — August 15, 2005

Former Glenvil resident, Hilda Marie Sanders of Seward, Nebraska, died Monday, August 15, 2005 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 93 years and 10 months.

Services will be Friday, August 19, 2005; 10:30 A.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska, with Pastor Paul Hirsch officiating. Burial will be in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska.

Mrs. Sanders was born October 2, 1911 near Glenvil, Nebraska to Wilke Gerdes & Gebke (Enninga) Stromer. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Glenvil on December 4, 1911 and was confirmed there on April 10, 1927. She was united in marriage to Paul Alexander Sanders on February 14, 1934 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1985. To this union, four children were born: Shirley Mae; Larry Lee; Ronald Allen and Rosemary Sue. Hilda and Paul farmed near Glenvil until 1943, when they were displaced by the Naval Ammunition Depot being built because of World War II and moved to a farm southwest of Geneva. Besides being a wife and mother, she had also worked at Sunset Home and Emory's Café in Geneva. In 1970, they retired from farming and moved to Hastings, where Hilda worked as a housekeeper at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for many years. Hilda moved to an apartment in Seward in December of 1998 where she still resided. She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul A. Sanders, an infant brother Gerd (George), three sisters, Esther Theesen McRoberts, Grace Sanders and Gertrude Meyer, a brother Carl Stromer and a son Larry Sanders.

VISITATION: Wed. 8-17-05; Noon-9pm
Thur. 8-18-05; 9am-9pm
Fri. 8-19-05; 1 hr. prior to service at the church
