Howard Gangwish

December 29, 1917 — June 7, 2004

Howard L. 'Shortie Gangwish, 86, of 1215 N. Liberty Ave., Juniata, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Monday, June 7, 2004; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska.

Mr. Gangwish was born December 29, 1917 in Adams County, on the farmstead southwest of Juniata, Nebraska, to Earl & Nellie (Gish) Gangwish. He attended Juniata Public School until the 11th grade. He graduated from Roseland High School, Roseland, Nebraska in 1935. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII from January 22, 1941 til June 24, 1945. His tour of duty included England, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. After his discharge, he returned to Juniata to farm. He married Doris L. Wiltrout on January 10, 1954. He was a life long Juniata area resident and a member of the Juniata Community Church. He was very active in the Juniata American Legion Post 365.

Mr. Gangwish was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Sun. 6-6-04; 1pm-9pm
Mon. 6-7-04; 9am until service time
