Icle Lowenthal

Hastings resident, Icle M. "Midge" Lowenthal, 85, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Monday, October 3, 2016; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Burial will be prior to service at 10:00 A.M. in Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Midge was born October 23, 1930 in Bonham, Texas to Thomas Christian & Elsie E. (Grifit) Risner. Midge moved from Texas to Modesto, California. She married Harry Lowenthal in 1975; he preceded her in death in 1984. She moved to Hastings in 1989 from Modesto, California. Midge's long-time partner was Wayne Niemeyer; he preceded her in death in 2002.

Midge was employed by John Engel Frozen Foods in Modesto, California for 25 to 30 years, until her retirement. Midge was known as "GG" by her grandchildren.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Lowenthal; long-time partner, Wayne Niemeyer; granddaughter, Laura; sisters, Hattie, Iva, Opal and Icie "Beady"; and brothers, Bill and Thomas.
