Clark in 1949. Ida graduated from Trumbull (NE) High School in 1928, and then attended college and the Mary Lanning Memorial School of Nursing. She was on the teaching staff at Mary Lanning Hospital in 1940, when she joined a group of nurses organized through the American Red Cross to serve in England supporting their war efforts. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the United States officially entered the war, and Ida joined the American Army Nurse Corps as a Second Lieutenant. She served in England in this capacity until the summer of 1943, when she returned to the U.S. Ida was an adventurous and giving person throughout her life. Ida was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. She devoted large amounts of her time and personal resources to the church and numerous other charitable organizations. She took up downhill skiing at the age of 71, and was witnessed horseback riding at age 78. Ida is remembered by nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. She will be missed.
