Ina Sergeant

Hastings resident, Ina M. Sergeant, 94, of the Regency, 1235 N. Laird Avenue, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Friday, September 1, 2006; 10:00 A.M. at the Juniata United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Miller & Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery. Book signing will be Wednesday, August 30, 2009; 5pm-9pm, Thursday, August 31, 2006; 9am-9pm at Butler-Volland Funeral Home and Friday, September 1, 2006, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials to the Juniata United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sergeant was born February 20, 1912 in Akron, Colorado to Frank & Alice (Hulser) Sisson. She graduated from Akron High School, and received her teaching certificate from the University of Northern Colorado. She taught school before her marriage to John A. Sergeant on July 14, 1933. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1989. They moved from Denver, Colorado to Hastings, Nebraska in 1953. She was a homemaker and later worked for Midwest Distributors, Juniata, Nebraska. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women in Juniata, YWCA and was on the Regency Board of Directors, both in Hastings. She had been active in the Girl Scouts and with Cheyenne Frontier Days while living in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Her hobbies included, gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, puzzling, and playing cards.

Mrs. Sergeant was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John and two brothers.
