Ione Lipovsky

Former Fairfield resident, Ione M. Lipovsky, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Rosary will be Monday, September 22, 2014; 9:30 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery; 1:30 P.M. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date or St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Saturday, September 20, 2014; 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and Sunday, September 21, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Ione M. Lipovsky was born June 29, 1924 to H.B. & Katherine (Knoop) Menke. She married James Lipovsky on May 2, 1945 at St. Stephens Catholic Church near Lawrence, NE. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1994. They lived on a farm in Clay County near Fairfield. They built a home in Fairfield and moved there after retirement. Ione was a full-time homemaker and held leadership roles on Fairfield Legion Auxiliary, DCCW, Altar Society, Women's Extension Club, Hastings China Belles and was a 4-H leader for many years. Jim & Ione enjoyed traveling during the years preceding his death. Ione enjoyed making kolaches, canning, China painting, and spending time with family & friends. Ione remained in Fairfield after Jim died until August 2006 when she moved to College View Assisted Living and was residing there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lipovsky; 6 brothers; 1 sister, and an infant son.
