Ira Steiger

Hastings resident, Ira Lee Steiger, 71, of 903 E. 5th St., died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at BryanLGH Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska as a result of a car accident.

Burial Office will be Monday, October 25, 2004; 11:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with The Very Rev. Richard J. Martindale officiating. Burial with military rites will be Monday, October 25, 2004; 3:00 P.M. in Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, Nebraska.

Mr. Steiger was born June 3, 1933 in Grafton, Nebraska to Max & Freda (Issler) Steiger, Sr. He graduated from Sutton High School, Sutton, Nebraska in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 1, 1957, he married Marjorie M. Sutter. They were married 21 years. He worked for Morrison- Quirk and it's successor companies for over 40 years. After retirement he worked seasonal part-time for the Morrison Corporations. On September 14, 1979, he married Phyllis J. Steffens. He was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Eagles, D.A.V., V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Mr. Steiger was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Gayle, Max Jr., Darwin, Wayne and Rex Steiger.
