Hastings resident, Irene R. Havel, 92, of Perkins Pavilion, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Perkins Pavilion.
Rosary will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 9, 2005; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, Nebraska Wednesday, March 9, 2005; 2:30 P.M.
Mrs. Havel was born February 17, 1913 in Cowles, Nebraska to Otto & Tillie (DeTour) Portenier. She graduated from Cowles High School and Kearney Teachers College, Kearney, Nebraska. On November 2, 1935, she married William R. Havel in Red Cloud, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1985. She was a day care provider at Hastings State Hospital for 20 years, then she worked at J.M McDonald's offices & warehouse and later at Good Samaritan Village, before retiring. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Elks Does, American Legion and Eagles Auxiliary.
Mrs. Havel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, three brothers and one sister.
