Irene Mangers

Former Roseland resident, Irene Marie Mangers, 93, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 with family at her side, at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, November 10, 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Assumption, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2009; 5 P.M. - 9 P.M., Tuesday, November 10, 2009; 9 A.M. - 9 P. M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Assumption Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska.

Irene Marie Mangers was born August 20, 1916 to John and Margaret (Seyler) Bonifas in rural Roseland, Nebraska. She attended Assumption Catholic School. She married Ralph Mangers on January 4, 1939 at Assumption Catholic Church. They then moved to Aurora, Illinois and returned to Nebraska in 1942, to a farm near Holstein and then to a farm near Roseland. After Ralph retired from farming they moved to Roseland in 1976. Ralph preceded her in death on August 29, 1994. Irene was a homemaker and raised her family and enjoyed quilting with the church ladies. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Parish Council of Catholic Women, Crosier Apostolate and volunteered at Catholic Social Services and the Senior Center. She moved to the Homestead in September of 2007.

Irene Marie Mangers was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Mangers, four sisters, two brothers, daughter, Kathy Consbruck, granddaughter, Katie Leslie and son-in-law Benny Schmidt.
