Irene Wendell

Hastings resident, Irene L. Wendell, 95, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Prayer service will be Monday, January 29, 2018; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil or Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery, Axtell. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.

Irene was born February 2, 1922, in Spring Ranch, Nebraska to Henry D. & Helena O. (Theesen) Stamer. She married Herman Henry "Speck" Uhrich on July 26, 1943; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1972. Irene married Oliver E. Wendell on September 30, 1975; he preceded her in death on August 9, 1996.

She worked at Tommy's Market where she later retired. Irene loved to fish, hunt, and travel. She enjoyed spending time with her siblings and her nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; Herman Henry "Speck" Uhrich and Oliver E. Wendell; brothers, Julius Sam Stamer and Leo C. Stamer; sisters, Delores Person, Josephine Park, Velma Smith and Elsie Pavelka; infant brother, Henry Stamer; and other family members.
