Long time Hastings resident, Jack D. Meyerhoeffer, 93, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at his home.
Services will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with The Rev. Dr. David B. McCarthy officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present beginning at 6:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Jack was born December 2, 1922 in Holbrook, Nebraska to Tom & Evelyn (Heizer) Meyerhoeffer. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1941. Jack married Waunda Meyerhoeffer on December 31, 1945. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy Air Corp and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
Jack worked many years at Uerlings Furniture store in Hastings before retiring at 80 years old. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Southern Hills Country Club. He was also a past member of the Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America and sang tenor in the Hastings Men's Chorus.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Waunda Meyerhoeffer; his father, Thomas Meyerhoeffer; his mother, Evelyn; his stepfather, Alfred Christianson; a granddaughter, Lindsey; and grandsons, Edward and Eric.
