James W. Doyen

Hastings resident James W. “Jim” Doyen, 75, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Services with military rites will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain Lisa Ewald officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. with family present, Sunday, January 21, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Jim was born September 22, 1948 in Hastings, NE to Lorence and Dona (Obester) Doyen. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1966. Jim served in the U.S. Marines and National Guard from July 14, 1966 to April 1, 1987; and received two Purple Hearts. He married June Jester on July 12, 1969; she preceded him in death on September 5, 2018.

Jim was a member of the American Legion, American Legion Riders, and Patriot Riders. Jim enjoyed woodworking and anthing military related.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June Doyen; and infant son, James W. Doyen, Jr.
