James Jarosik

Lawrence resident James F. “Jim” Jarosik, 70, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Grand Island, NE.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, and Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial is in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lawrence with Father Thomas Schultes officiating. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Visitation Chapel. Merten-Butler Mortuary is serving the family.

Jim was born January 3, 1948, in Nelson, NE to Frank & Thelma (Menke) Jarosik. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966, attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and graduated from University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in forestry. Jim married Connie Hubl on June 13, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence; to this union six children were born.

Jim farmed from 1971-1995, he also worked at Big-G in Hastings and T-L Irrigation in the parts department where he later retired. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he was very involved with Knights of Columbus Council 1906 in Lawrence. Jim served as Grand Knight for two years and recently achieved an honorary life membership. He was a Knights of Columbus member for 52 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Frank Jarosik; step-father, Glen Koester; son, Luke Jarosik; and granddaughter, Riley Hinrichs.
