Former Hastings resident, James "Jim" E. Jugert, 65, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, April 5, 2013 at River Hills Hospice Center in Kerrville, Texas after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, April 12, 2013; 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in his name has been established and will be designated at a later date, James E. Jugert Memorial, 514 S. 4th Avenue, Apt. 100, Hastings, Nebraska 68901. There will be no viewing as Jim's wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jim Jugert was born August 30, 1947 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Dallas O. "Pete" and Ardell L. (Muhleisen) Jugert. Jim was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska. The family moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1953. Jim attended Morton Elementary School, Junior High School, graduated from Hastings High School in 1965, and received his Associates Degree from a technical college in Omaha. Jim was active in Boy Scouts. While in scouting he received an Eagle Scout Award, Lutheran Pro Deo et Patria (God and Country) Award and Order of the Arrow. He married Joyce Gaston in May 1968. Three daughters were born to this union. They later divorced. Jim married Janet Mize in September 2006. Jim was employed at Nebraska Public Power District in Ogallala, North Platte, and Hastings, Nebraska; Tri States Generation and Transmission in Colorado; and Western Area Power Administration (United States Department of Energy) in Jamestown, North Dakota and Watertown, South Dakota. He retired in August of 2007. In 2010 Jim and Janet moved to Texas. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, camping, gardening, and traveling. Some of Jim's most cherished memories were of family gatherings.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dallas O. "Pete" Jugert; and his grandparents, Edward & Anetta Muhleisen and Pete & Mathilda Jugert.
