Hastings resident James R. “Jim” Kissinger, 79, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 4, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Kathy Uldrich officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 3, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Jim was born May 20, 1945, in Ord, NE to Ralph and Edith (Cox) Kissinger. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1963. Jim married the love of his life Judy Stark on July 25, 1965, and were married for 59 years. He worked as a lineman for Hastings Utilities; retiring in 2009. Jim was a Boy Scout leader and a baseball coach. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carving walking sticks and canes. Jim was a good storyteller and did not know a stranger. He helped raise his nephew, Scott Kissinger.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elsie & Jim Stark; sister and brother-in-law, Geri & Donald Streck; and brothers-in-law, Jack Cummings and Jim Stark.
