James Powell

Hastings resident, James Burton Powell, 50, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, March 4, 2017; 2:30 P.M. at Berean Bible Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Knott officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family.

James was born January 12, 1967 in Vallejo, California to Raymond & Dorothy (Morris) Powell. He married Linda D. Walters on September 6, 1990. They moved in 1991 from Vallejo, California to Hastings. James enjoyed camping, fishing, his dog Coco, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was a strong fighter, he was given nine months to one year and he survived two and one-half years battling cancer.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Powell; and grandson, Cody Utter.
