Jim was born October 21, 1970, in Hastings, NE to Gary and Judith “Judy” (Pawloski) Prevette. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1989 and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1989 to 1993, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Jim played football at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was voted unity council representative by his teammates. They went on to win three Big 8 Conference championships. He married Heidi Hart on September 2, 1995, in Hastings.
Jim worked at the Hastings Correctional/Regional Center for a combined 18 years and has since worked at Corteva AgriScience in Doniphan. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Harlan Anglers Walleye Association. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Harlan was his second home where he spent most summers out on the lake fishing, drinking beer, and being with people he loved. Hunting and fishing were passionate hobbies for him, and he got the most joy from helping others reel in their master angler, get their first buck, and teaching others all about the outdoors.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant sister, Patricia Prevette.
