Former Hastings resident, James D. Stark, Jr., 72, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 in Buffalo, Wyoming in an auto accident.
Services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Jocelyn Tupper officiating. Burial will be in Mount Sinai Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Book signing will be Saturday, August 2, 2008; 9AM-5PM, Monday, August 4, 2008; 9am-5pm, Tuesday, August 5, 2008; 9am-5pm and Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 9am until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your favorite animal shelter in memory of Jim.
Jim was born February 6, 1936 in Hastings, Nebraska to James D. Sr. & Elsie (Rutt) Stark. He worked in security in Arizona and Chicago before retiring in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was active in the 70 West Fire Department, Department of Homeland Security and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (Flotilla 1507 8WR in Hot Springs where he served as Commander for 2 years). He was a certified EMT 1st Responder and a chef for the Jockey Club at the Oak Lawn Race Track. He is a Melvin Jones Award Winner with the Hot Springs South Lions Club and a past president. He worked with the Department of Emergency Management Services in Hot Springs. Jim Jr. & Saralee (Garland) Stark were married on November 21, 1979.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Janice Ray Stark; grandparents, Henry & Hannah Stark & Frank & Mable Rutt.
