James Streff

Former Heartwell and Hastings resident, James W. Streff, 92, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Haven Home of Kenesaw.

Rosary will be Monday, January 7, 2013; 7:30 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 8, 2013; 10:00 A. M. both at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, Assumption, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church Endowment Fund or Crosier Fathers. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the rosary at the church. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the mass at the church.

James W. Streff was born March 25, 1920 in Adams County, Nebraska to Charles & Elizabeth (Weber) Streff. On June 17, 1941 he married Laurayne F. McCroden at Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell. James was a lifelong Kearney and Adams county resident. Laurayne preceded James in death on August 14, 2008. James was a farmer and carpenter all of his life. James was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Crosier Apostolate and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus.

James W. Streff was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laurayne F. Streff; sons, Larry Streff, Rick Streff, Terry Streff; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
