March 14, 1921 — November 6, 2016

Hastings resident, Lois "Jane" Heltne, 95, passed away peacefully in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, November 6, 2016.

Services will be Friday, November 11, 2016; 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was the loving wife of Joe Heltne who preceded her in death in February, 1977; they were married in February, 1946. Jane was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on March 14, 1921 and lived there until she moved to Denver with her parents Olive & Alva Sneesby and her sister Charlotte Henry when she was 22. Her brother Alan was in the Navy at the time. She and Joe lived in several cities in Nebraska before moving to Hastings in 1960 where she lived up until a few months ago when she was admitted to a care facility in Lincoln for health issues and to be close to her daughter and her family.

Jane loved her five children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren very much; they were the joy of her life. Her face would always light up when she saw them and she was happiest when spending time with her family and friends.

Her faith and her church were a key part of her life and she was able impact many people much younger than she was well into her 90's as a Stephen Minister at First United Methodist Church. Her faith and her love for Christ had an influence on many people she came in contact with in her everyday life.

Jane loved to play bridge and was in many bridge groups over the years. She was also a member of Extension Club for many years.

She and Joe loved the Rocky Mountains and she would take every opportunity to go and spend time with family and friends in and around Estes Park, Colorado.

Mom, Jane or Nana, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren will be missed. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her witness of her faith in life and death will be remembered by all of us.

Her Children rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28

Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Wood and two grandchildren, Corrie and Tab Wood.
