Jane Washburn

Jane E. (Newton) Washburn, 64, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her home in Hastings Nebraska. Jane was born November 4, 1949 in Parsons, Kansas to William & Edith (Hunter) Newton. She grew up in the Parsons area and graduated from Parsons Senior High in 1967. Jane married Frank A. Washburn on December 7, 1968. She worked as a Director of Medical Records before retiring to spend more time with her family and pursue other interests. After her father lost his eyesight to Glaucoma, Jane became interested in braille and was a member of Omaha Volunteer Braille Services, translating text books to braille for blind students. Jane was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She enjoyed counted cross stich, playing bridge, and entertaining family and friends at her lake house in Arkansas. The times she cherished the most were with her children, grandchildren and family.

Services will be Friday, January 24, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church, Parsons, Kansas, where Jane and Frank were married. Pastor Jack Blackwell will be officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, rural Parsons, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014; 7:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons with the family present. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center and Carson-Wall Funeral Home are serving the family.

Jane E. Washburn was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Virginia Hizey.
