Janice Capps

Hastings resident, Janice Ruth Capps, 72, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion, Aurora, Colorado.

Services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.

Janice was born July 12, 1938 in Columbus, Nebraska to Walter Gusta & Blanche Irene (Jaeger) Lucht. Janice attended school in Columbus and Grand Island until the 8th grade. She married Harry Duering on January 16, 1954; they later divorced. She married Lee R. Capps on August 17, 1975 and they divorced in 2007. Janice was on the PTA board at Spencer Park School and served in many positions. She was a Boy Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. Janice worked at various restaurants in the area as a waitress.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Amy Jo; brother, Robert Lucht; sister and brother-in-law, Nolma & George Smith; brother-in-law, Doug Douglas; and friend, Lulu Luther.
