Jean Ahlin

September 20, 1944 — November 8, 2016

Hastings native and long-time Lincoln resident, Jean L. (Yost) Ahlin, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 surrounded by family at Premier Estates Nursing Home, Kenesaw, Nebraska from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 10, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. A reception will follow at First Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made in Jean's name to the Food Bank of Lincoln at lincolnfoodbank.org. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Born September 20, 1944 to Lloyd and Jeannette Yost at Mary Lanning Hospital, she graduated Hastings High School in 1962 and Bryan Memorial Nursing School in 1965. Her RN career was devoted to veterans, first at VA facilities in Leavenworth and Topeka and then for 25 years at the VA Hospital in Lincoln, where she resided until recently. Jean loved fine dining and travel and was a Husker Match Club member holding season tickets for volleyball and also baseball. She dressed with inimitable style whether for a game or a dinner out. Her sisters will be forever grateful for the care Jean gave to their parents, especially mother Jeannette.
