Jean "Sharon" (Hogate) Pendergast

Hastings resident Jean “Sharon” (Hogate) Pendergast, 81, passed away peacefully in a family home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, May 24, 2024.    

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain Lisa Ewald officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery in Bladen. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. 

Sharon was born November 26, 1942, in Des Moines, IA to Clark Wheaton and Laura Jean (Keller) Hogate. She graduated from Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, AZ, and attended college for two years. Sharon married Cary Lee Pendergast on August 19, 1959, in Phoenix, AZ, and they relocated to Nebraska; he preceded her in death on January 10, 2017.

Sharon was employed as a nurse and loved what she did; she retired in 2000. She loved her children and family so very much. Sharon was a wonderful mother who loved to read, watch scary movies, camp, go on adventures, and spend time with her little dog, Sky. She is taking a walk now with her mom on her next journey. Sharon will always be watching over us and will be forever missed. We love you, Mama.  

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cary Lee Pendergast.
