Jean Runcie

Former Hastings resident, Jean D. Runcie, 80, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Thursday, October 21, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Private family burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. There will be a book signing Tuesday, October 19, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 20, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family.

Jean was born June 29, 1930 in Harvard, Nebraska to Reuben & Pearl (Johnson) Pontine. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1948. On April 17, 1949 she married Donald Runcie and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2002. To this union they had two children, John Runcie of Emporia, Kansas and Donald Runcie, Jr. of Hastings. She worked for several businesses in Hastings retiring from Cornhusker Tool. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Christian Builders Sunday School Class and was a Mary Lanning Hospice Volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Runcie, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Robert Runcie.
