Former Hastings resident, Jeanette M. Vollweiler, 92, of Homestead Nursing Home, Lincoln, Nebraska, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Home.
Services will be Saturday February 10, 2001; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Jeanette M. Vollweiler was born November 26, 1908 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Louis & Madeline (Sittner) Vollweiler. She grew up and was educated in Hastings, Nebraska where she became acquainted with the Perkins family and helped them in the initial stages of developing and packaging Kool-Aid. In 1930, she moved with the Perkins family to Chicago, Illinois to continue working in the development of Kool Aid until the Perkins family sold it to General Foods. In 1938, Jeanette moved back to Hastings for a few years, then moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for the Great Western Sugar Company as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1968. In 1970, she made her home in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Jeanette M. Vollweiler was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
