Hastings resident, Jerome E. Konen, 86, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, October 5, 2014; 7:00 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 6, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites by Nebraska National Guard Military Funeral Honor Guard will be at Assumption Cemetery, Assumption, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, October 4, 2014; 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, October 5, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the rosary and mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Catholic Social Services - Hastings, Nebraska or visit www.cssisus.org and designate your gift in Jerome Konen's memory.

Jerome was born June 11, 1928 in Juniata, Nebraska to Nick & Emma (Portz) Konen. He graduated from Roseland High School and served with the National Guard from November 3, 1947 to November 3, 1956. Jerome married JoAnn L. Parr on June 26, 1951 at Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption, Nebraska; she preceded him in death on April 11, 2000. He was employed at Roseland State Bank and was co-owner of Insurance Plus until his retirement in 1992. Jerome moved to Hastings from Roseland in August 1998. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Adams County Senior Services Board, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree #1123, Midland Area Agency on Aging, St. Michael's Church Choir, St. Michael's Church Men's Club, and Outreach Organization.

Jerome was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Konen; daughter, Julie Sorensen; parents, Nick & Emma Konen; brother, Paul Konen; sisters, Sister Clothilde Konen & Bernadette Cox.
