Jerry Hoff

Hastings resident, Jerry Jay Hoff, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Alegent Lakeside Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015; 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Private burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Start Over Rover. Book signing will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.

Jerry was born on July 31, 1950 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Charles & Leona Hoff. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1968. Jerry was the first of his family to graduate from college, obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kearney State College in 1973. Jerry then went to work for Nash Finch Company, living in South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota. In 1987 he moved back to Hastings as Co-Owner of Uncle Neal's. Jerry was very active at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings Noon Rotary and as a board member of the Chamber of Commerce. Jerry loved to play golf although he never mastered the game. He cherished playing cards with a group of friends monthly. He loved dogs and cats and many remember seeing him walk his chocolate lab Daisy. He was known to stop at his friend Ron's for a beer on those walks. Jerry loved to hunt with his brothers and sons every fall. Jerry was an eternal optimist and always thought the glass was half full. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jerry J. Hoff was preceded in death by his parents.
