Rural Lawrence resident, Jerry C. Johnson, 70, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at his home.
Services will be Saturday, November 20, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be after the luncheon in Oak Creek Cemetery, Pauline, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family to be used for a local charity.
Jerry was born January 11, 1940, son of Carl and Amanda (Hill) Johnson, McClean, Nebraska. He graduated from Wausa High School in 1957 and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln prior to serving a tour in the U.S. Army. He married Janet Malena on April 21, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska. Jerry spent several years in the commercial glass business, eventually owning his own business, General Glass, Inc., with offices in Holdrege and Hastings, Nebraska. He retired in 2001, enjoying his remaining years on the farm outside Lawrence, Nebraska that he and Janet purchased in 1994. He spent his time gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Amanda Johnson; infant brother; and two sisters, Betty Jane Jantz and Marcellyne L. Tyler.
