Juniata resident, Jimmie F. Jones, 72, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at Juniata United Methodist Church, Juniata with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Burial with military rites will be Wednesday, May 19, 2010; 11:00 A.M. in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, May 16, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Monday, May 17, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church.

Jimmie was born October 4, 1937 in Brush, Colorado to Paul & Mildred I. (Brach) Jones. As a young child his family moved to Juniata, Nebraska. He graduated from Juniata where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He was in the Army from June 9, 1956 until December 8, 1956. On July 28, 1959 he entered the Navy, and was honorable discharged on March 25, 1966. He was on the U.S.S. Coral Sea and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Base in San Diego, California. He worked as a carpenter for Westland Modular Homes and was a counselor for Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Jimmie also had his own counseling service at his home. He was a member of the Juniata United Methodist Church.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joyce Yeslinek.
