Hastings resident, Jimmy J. Borino, Jr., 78, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Monday, June 6, 2011; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2011; 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., Monday, June 6, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Jimmy was born December 1, 1932 in Fossil, Wyoming to John and Frances (Petek) Borino. He graduated from West High School in Denver, Colorado and received a Certificate in Mechanical Drafting from Engineering Drafting School in Denver. He was in the United States Marine Corps from January 17, 1951- January 16, 1954 during the Korean War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart medal. On May 23, 1953 he married A. Marie Murphy at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. He worked for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company in the Engineering Department as a Mechanical Draftsman and was then promoted to the position of Energy Utilization Representative. He worked for K-N Energy for 41 years before retiring as a Sales Manager. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and past president of Hastings Catholic Home School Association. He was the past president of Hastings Jaycees and past state officer of the Nebraska Jaycees. He was also a member of V.F.W., American Legion, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus Third Degree. Jimmy enjoyed fishing and hunting with his hunting dog Josh.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Lee Borino.
