Joan Koch

Ralston, Nebraska resident, Joan M. Koch, 87, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at The Heritage of College View in Hastings, Nebraska.

Joan was born August 24, 1928, in Hastings to Dr. Alan and Ruby (Campbell) MacCashland. She graduated valedictorian from Hastings High and earned her BA in Education at UNO. Joan married Jerry Koch on September 3, 1947, and to this union they had an infant daughter, Deborah Kay, and two sons Rick (Susan) of Ralston and Scott (Ruth) of York, NE. Joan was a teacher at Rockbrook Elementary until retirement from Westside Community Schools.

Preceded in death by infant daughter, parents, brother; Bill MacCashland, and husband.

Survived by her sons and their families, which include: five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joan's life was devoted to her family, friends, and love of teaching.

Memorial service Thursday, October 1, 2015; 10:30 AM at Ralston United Church of Christ. There will be a private family burial. Memorials are suggested to Ralston Public Library, Westside Community Schools Foundation or Ralston United Church of Christ.
