Joe Brown

Hastings resident, Joe R. Brown, 62, of 836 Webster Ave., died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Requiem Eucharist will be Saturday, May 22, 2004; 9:30 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, 422 N. Burlington, with The Very Rev. Richard J. Martindale officiating. Committal with Masonic Rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. Brown was born January 1, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska to Al Ray R. & Margaret Ellen (Simpson) Brown. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1960 and attended Hastings College. He graduated from Kearney State College in 1968 and had taken graduate classes at the University of Nebraska in Kearney. He married Juanita L. Rosenlof on August 22, 1965 in York, Nebraska. He taught school in Roseland, Nebraska and then became an insurance salesman. Later, he operated the Clarke Hotel Restaurant and Lounge in Hastings. He was presently teaching in the Hastings Public School system. In the last seven summers, he worked for the City of Hastings Street Department. He was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral where he was co-leader of the Youth Group and taught Sunday School. He was also a member of Hastings Lodge #50 A.F.& A.M., Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #39 and Nebraska Chapter National SIDS Foundation. He was a past member of the Elks. His hobbies were helping kids & his family, photography, gardening and cooking.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Jolie Amber Brown.
