John Cameron

August 14, 1925 — March 28, 2016

Hastings resident, John D. Cameron, 90, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

There will be no services and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Elks Golf Course and Hastings Area Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund.

John was born August 14, 1925 in Kansas City. His parents were John and Mae (Dubry) Cameron. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1943 and joined the United States Navy in 1943 taking part in the invasion of Iwo Jima in 1945. John graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College, Kearney in 1950 and received his Master of Education degree from University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1955. He taught in Hyannis, Taylor and Hastings, Nebraska and was the owner of Cameron's Campers for many years. He was a member of Hastings Elks Lodge and Hastings Area Retired Teachers. On May 17, 1953, he married June Farm in Wilcox, Nebraska.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
