John Green, Sr

Grand Island resident, John Myron Green, Sr., 73, of 903 S. Pine St. died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, November 29 2004; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Rodney Armon officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska.

Mr. Green was born July 28, 1931 to Myron Roselle Green & Ethel Pansy (Jackson) in Clare, New York. He served in the Army National Guard from July 1949 through August 1949. He married Barbara J. Gerloff on August 16, 1952 and she preceded him in death on December 20, 1990. From December 1950 through January 1969 he served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Texas, Nebraska, Michigan, California, New Mexico, New York and overseas. After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, he moved to Hastings, Nebraska. He served in the Army National Guard from August 1972 - July 1988. He moved to Giltner in 1973, Aurora in 1987and Grand Island in 1995. Mr. Green was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doniphan, Nebraska. He was a member of the American Legion Post #53 in Grand Island. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid Nebraska football fan.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara J. Green.
