John Patrick Jacupke was born October 27, 1954, to Jerry and Helen Jacupke. John attended Hastings Public Schools and graduated from Hastings Senior High in 1973. The following fall, he enrolled in the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he was active in Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, as well as in sports and social activities. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree.
Most of his adult life, John lived in Florida in a home he loved well. For many years and at the time of his death, he was a Registered Investment Adviser and Financial Planner, affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services in North Palm Beach, Florida.
He married Lorraine Bauer. After seven years the couple divorced.
After dedication to his business, John found time for many interests: visiting his beloved Nebraska family; gardening; cooking; entertaining; drawing; listening to music; viewing and participating in sports; and involvement in several boards and philanthropic causes. He remained an avid Nebraska football fan. John kept in touch with and valued and enjoyed his many friends, both past and present.
John died June 27th at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was loved by many, he will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, the late Jerry Jacupke; his brother, Jay Jacupke; and his niece, Emily Barta.
Survivors include the following: his mother, Helen Jacupke; step-mother, Donna Jacupke; sister, Paula Barta (Mrs. John); brother-in-law, John Barta; sister, Julie Jacupke; sister-in-law, Karen Jacupke, wife of Jay Jacupke; nephew Ryan Carlson and his wife, Paula Carlson; nieces, Jessica Jacupke and Jenna Jacupke; nephew Jordan Jacupke; two grandnieces, Leah and Sarah Carlson.
Burial Office will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013; 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska, with The Very Rev. Dean Catherine F. Scott officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with the family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to one of John's primary interests: Hope Rural School, Inc., 15929 SW 150th Street, Indiantown, FL 34956.
