John Jones

Hastings resident, John R. Jones, 75, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, October 18, 2009; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 19, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, October 17, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, October 18, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home; and 1 hour prior to service at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church or of donor's choice.

John was born September 7, 1934 to Gail A. & Irene (Hogan) Jones in Oak, Nebraska. He later moved with his parents to Beloit, Kansas and graduated from Beloit High School in 1952. After graduation, he moved to Hastings and worked at several places until he worked at Hastings Irrigation Pipe Company from 1964 until he retired in 1998. He married Arlene G. Faber on November 19, 1955 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family and his extended family very much. He lived for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Opal Jones and Venda Lee (Reling) Jones.
