Hastings resident, John "Jack" J. Keogh, 94, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare.
Private family burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the Veterans Hospital, Grand Island for Disabled Veterans.
Jack was born May 5, 1919 in Denver, Colorado to James & Helen Keogh. He served with the U.S. Marines as a Sergeant during World War II from June 29, 1940 until August 16, 1946; was a Pearl Harbor survivor, tank mechanic, and rifle and pistol expert. He served in the South Pacific/Central Pacific, Peleau Islands 1941-1945 and fought the Japanese at Palaum Islands. Jack married Jana V. Garrison on July 13, 1946; she preceded him in death on July 10, 2008. Jack moved to Hastings in 1946 and worked for LT & T as a groundman, cable splicer, switchman and became a COE technician in 1980. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, building clocks, and the outdoors.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jana V. Keogh.
