John Lyons, Jr

Hastings resident, John C. Lyons, Jr., 83, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, March 19, 2015; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 20; 10:00 A. M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph Walsh officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

John was born on March 25, 1931 to John C. Sr. & Lillian (Kenderick) Lyons. John graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois in 1949. He graduated for Kenyon College in 1952 with a Bachelor's Degree in Latin. He was a 3rd Order Carmelite and was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. In the Korean War, John was involved in Field Artillery Operations and was an Intelligence Specialist. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

John was preceded in death by his parents and son, Spencer Lyons.
