John Shea

Hastings resident John P. Shea, 79, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Nebraska Heart Institute, Lincoln, NE.

Memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to John Shea Memorial Fund.

John was born April 1, 1940, in Hastings, NE to John W. & Vivian (Bullert) Shea. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1958. John married Karen Powell on June 17, 1961; they later divorced. To this union, Jim and Dan were born. He married Rita Rae Ryan on August 10, 1975; she preceded him in death on December 19, 2015. They were married for 40 years.

John worked as the service manager for Big G Ace and delivered parts for Auto Value. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals, playing golf and hunting and was an avid bowler. John enjoyed watching the grandchildren's events. He loved food and really loved eating out.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Rae Shea; son-in-law, Jay Jacupke; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Marble.
