John Swan

John Swan, 85, of Hastings, NE, passed on to heaven on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at his home.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Evangelical Free Church in Hastings followed by a luncheon. John has been interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings. 

John was born February 18, 1939, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Alexander Lyle Swan and Iris Tui King. John worked most of his life in sheet metal in the Chicago and Los Angeles areas.

John married Karen Sveiven in 1960 and together they had four sons, James (Linda) Swan, John David (Diane) Swan, Mark Swan, and Matthew (Tamar) Swan. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born. Many years later John and Karen divorced. Karen remarried. A few years later John married Marsha Stowell. Their marriage celebrated 32 years together prior to his passing.

In Canada, John was one of four sons, John, Tom (Marilyn), Alex (Miriam) and Ray (Carol). There are many nieces and nephews in Canada as well as in the USA. The only brother living now is his brother, Tom.

John had a full life with his family, but the most important part of his whole life was his service and devotion to his Savior Jesus Christ. The involvement was huge.
