Hastings resident Joseph H “Joe” Blackford, 34, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Minden, Nebraska.
Memorial Services will be at 2 pm Friday, June 28, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Meuller officiating. Private burial will be at Soulville Cemetery in Sherman County. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the Special Olympics. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s Website. Joe was born April 2, 1990, in Kearney, NE to Edwin Michael Jr. Blackford and Maxine Marie Reimers. Joe graduated from Kearney High School. Joe loved spending time and helping at the farm. Most important to him were his family, friends, staff, spending time with the family dogs, John Deere Tractors, semis, and going out for pie. Joe’s faith was important to him he attended CCD at the Catholic Church in Hastings. He participated in Special Olympics bowling and track, ARC Activities, and was in a dart league.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Reimers, brother Eddie Blackford, grandparents, Lee and Phyliss Reimers, and nephew Jacob Reiser.
Those left to cherish his memory are Todd and Kelly Olson & family, Sally McKimmey, Mike and Kathy Blackford & family, Linda Reiser & family, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends and staff.
