Former Hastings resident, Joseph H. Hittner, 78, of Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Blue Hill Care Center.
Services will be Monday, July 15, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska at a later date.
Joseph H. Hittner was born October 2, 1923 in Greeley, Nebraska to Jake & Meta (Anderson) Hittner. He graduated from Greeley High School and on October 5, 1942, he married Elizabeth Anne Tarr in Greeley, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 1995. He served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII from April 13,1943 to April 20, 1946. He worked for the water department for the City of Hastings until 1966 and then owned and operated Joe's 16th St. Service station until 1979. He then worked for the Hastings Daily Tribune until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of V.F.W. #1346 and a past member of Eagles #592.
Joseph H. Hittner was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth Anne and a son, Donald in 1993.
